I’ve been keeping these stickers around for too long. I never gave them to kids, but in my Math for Contests class I let students celebrate their completed and correct work. I’m not teaching that class anymore (Math Art instead!), and my attitudes have changed some, too, I think. It still seems good to me to recognize one’s success and progress–and stickers aren’t an awful way to do this, but I think there are better ways. The best, of course, is when what one has done or gained or accomplished is the reward.
And so, on Day 0, a symbolic act. Here we go!
