Day 16: Growing Shape Patterns, 3D

Today’s Algebra 1 class was wild and crazy—and creative and productive, too. We briefly went over and shared their work with growing shape patterns from Friday and from over the weekend. Then I set them loose with snap cubes and this template. Different students flocked to different aspects of the investigation. Some spent more time designing and building. Others moved more swiftly into analyzing. A few threw their energy into dawdling and didn’t produce much of anything. Ah, well. Still, the room had a great vibe, and I’m looking forward to shepherding them along in their work tomorrow. I’m really excited to suggest to them to make stopframe animations to show how their shape patterns grow! Or maybe to make computer models of them and then 3D print them! Updates soon…
