Day 35: We’re Back!

Today was our first day back after Sandy. Our return even made the Times. (If you’ve been affected by the storm, my thoughts go out to you. I’m grateful that things have been very smooth for me.)

We did some work with crazy fractions (like fractions within fractions), and solving word problems with equations, and also made some candy corn math art.

It’s good to be back.

After Geometry class, I had a great chat with a student as we tried to figure out if you could break up a cuboctahedron into regular triangular and square pyramids. We’re hopeful but have nothing conclusive yet. The bonus photo below shows some of our artifacts.
