Day 37: Fractanimals

Often when my middle schoolers are doing a warm-up at the beginning of class, I’ll put a doodle prompt on the chalkboard for those who finish early. They are usually very silly. They are sometimes mathy. I don’t recall how this custom started, but I do remember my grandma telling me the story of how she would have her students draw pictures on the backs of their worksheets. It makes me happy to follow in her footsteps in this small way.

Some of the kids’ doodles were great. I remember in particular a lion that was made out of 3’s and 5’s. What do you call that? An anumal!

If you draw a fractanimal or an anumal, please share it!
