Every year, each department take a picture to go in the school yearbook. Some are straightforward, while others are elaborate/Photoshopped/clever. In the past, the math department has done riffs on Pascal’s triangle and the Fibonacci numbers, as well as ones taken playing on a playground and being read a story, kindergarten-style. This year we decided to do something simple, fun, and mathy—to mark up a chalkboard with some of our favorite mathy images and to use it as a backdrop. I snapped a pic of the resulting mural; we’ll see how much of it we didn’t block out in the yearbook version.
