I snapped this photo today in Paul’s classroom , just because I thought that—as a still life—it represents pretty well the feel of the way we try to share math with kids. It’s a little messy. There’s all this stuff to make stuff with. There are links to art and music—check out that little music box!. And the series of boxes—all formed from a sheet of graph paper in that classic optimization-problem fashion—shows a rise from the concrete to the abstract.
Not a bad tableau.
